Sliwkosky Knives Urban Bowie XL | Elmax Green Canvas Micarta knife was inspired by the design of knives from the bowie family. However, it is in vain to look for a detailed representation of the classic bowie in it, because the knifemaker Jakub Sliwka drew from the historical knife only a few characteristic elements specific to the blade profile. First of all, it modernized the size (the whole is 215 mm long), adjusting it to the needs of outdoor trips, where a large blade is not always needed. The result is a full-tang knife with a very universal purpose, in a classic, very nice design, which can be used with pleasure during a camping, travelling, in the forest, for food preparation etc. It will also not be afraid of planing, cutting medium-thick branches, or other activities that may need to be performed in the camp.

Sliwkosky Knives makes knives of various styles. Urban Bowie XL

Urban Bowie XL knife, despite the large-size XL letters in the name, can be described more as medium-sized. 215 mm of the total and 100 mm of the blade length will allow it to be used very universally. The size of the knife can be described as optimal, ideal for everyday camp work, but so small and inconspicuous that when attached to a belt during a longer trip, it will not disturb or weigh you down.

The inscription XL in the name in the case of Urban Bowie XL is to distinguish it from the Urban Bowie model, of the same design but in a smaller version (total length 185 mm), which size is dedicated to EDC (Every Day Carry) everyday use.

Elmax steel as a core of knife construction

Urban Bowie XL knife is a full tang design (made of one carefully selected piece of material) made of the highest quality Elmax steel (chrome-vanadium-molybdenum powder steel). Elmax is one of the few steels available on the market in the absolute top quality of materials used in the production of premium knives. Elmax blade is extremely resistant to overload, stays sharp for a long time (wears very slowly) and has excellent anti-corrosion properties.

Universal blade for any task

A 3,5 mm (0.12″) thick blade made in bowie style (clip point), with a flat grind, ensures a smooth cut and performs various tasks (piercing, planing, preparing meals, etc.). The knife has a handguard, which, together with a finger undercut, protects against slipping of the hand on the cutting edge during work and improves the grip. The spine of the blade has a slightly bevelled finish, which does not cause discomfort when handling the blade, but sharp enough, however, that it is easy to work with flint.

Robust ergonomic Micarta handle

Grips are made of Micarta laminate, resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, with high resistance to mechanical damage. Micarta, known for its excellent properties, also visual (it can be styled like a natural material), has a non-slip, rough structure. The covers have spacers (liners) made of G10 composite, which, in addition to the visual effect, are to make it easier to find the knife, e.g. after dropping it in the grass. The linings were glued and secured with steel pins. The handle has a hole at its end, which is used for additional protection of the knife against loss with a cord, paracord, etc. The 115 mm long handle (4.53″) has been designed in such a way that it is held very well regardless of the size of the hand grasping it.

Kydex sheath

Urban Bowie XL knife is equipped with a kydex sheath for carrying and storing it. Kydex is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, low moisture absorption, resistance to various weather conditions and many chemicals. Holsters made of it are used comfortably and long-term. The holster is attached to the belt with a nylon eyelet. The knife holster is equipped with through pins to which you can attach a tinder (not included) or other equipment. They can also be used to mount a knife, e.g. to a backpack, a harness element or a molle solution.

Warranty

Knives are covered by a lifetime warranty. This warranty provides protection against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty applies to both the knife and its sheath. If the product covered by this warranty fails due to a manufacturing defect the producer will repair it without charge, or replace it, at our discretion. Only original, unaltered and unmodified items are covered by this warranty.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, improper care, negligence, normal wear and tear, or the natural breakdown of colors and materials over an extended period of time and use. Damage not covered under the warranty may be repaired for a reasonable rate. In such cases, a fee will be also charged for shipping.

Maintenance

1. Remember! Every of our knives are extremely sharp, so be careful when handling them!
2. Do not use your knife for something besides it’s intended purpose! Do not use the knife as a can opener, screwdriver, chisel, hammer, crowbar etc.
3. After using your knife with sea water, blood, fruits or other corrosive mediums, always rinse the knife with fresh water and dry it off.
4. Do not wash the knife with harder chemicals or in the dishwasher. This may damage or destroy the knife.
5. Before storing your knife, apply thin film of high-quality gun oil or special knife oil or wax to knives. We recommend that you always keep your knife and sheath clean and dry when not in use.
6. Always keep your knife sharp, so it can always take care of you.
