MK Knives & Tools Claw “Blue Turtle” is the knife from karambits family. Originally, karambit was created in distant times in Malaysia and the Philippines, and its shape was inspired by the claws of large predatory cats. Characteristic for its construction were a curved blade and an inverted handle with a finger hole. Claw by MK refers to this style, but its blade has a straight cutting edge, which definitely increases its functionality.
Due to its construction, the Claw knife can be suitable for tactical use and for the needs of uniformed services. It will work when cutting ropes, plastics, materials that are difficult to approach, but also rubbing it will be more versatile in everyday life. Due to its design, Claw will be very effective for trimming plants, tree branches, etc.
MK Knives & Tools Claw “Blue Turtle” knife features a blade made from premium Elmax steel with an innovative hollow grind and a fuller. The blade is finished with a bead blast. The handle scales are crafted from a fancy G10 composite resembling a turtle shell, with blue and black colors. The knife comes with a black Kydex sheath equipped with a blue carrying clip.
MK Knives & Tools – Excellence in Knifemaking
MK Knives & Tools – Marcin Kampka. Knife designer and knifemaker. His knives are characterized by outstanding workmanship and exceptional attention to details. Knives with a highly recognizable line, style and colors are great for a variety of tasks: everyday, survival, bushcraft, tactical and general outdoor. In addition to the usable sphere, the visual setting and the variety of workmanship, especially appreciated by collectors, are of great importance in MK projects. Particular attention should be paid to the treatment of each project as a unique whole. Each knife presents its individual features, but holsters also have their distinguishing features. Holsters are finished as carefully as the knives themselves, which strongly distinguishes them in the knife world. The knifemaker approaches his work with patience and full commitment. Especially the first of these features develops while practicing the fishing hobby, because as we know, nothing refreshes the mind as much as a distraction, even a temporary one that will allow you to relax in a different than everyday environment.
Claw Knife – Your Everyday Companion
Claw is produced from different types of steel (Elmax, Vanadis 4 Extra, Vanadis 23 etc.), with different ways of finishing the blade (PVD coating, DLC coating, glassblasting, stonewash, satin). The handle is usually made of a G10 composite, micarta or carbon fiber with a variety of colors and different original patterns chosen by the knifemaker. For each knife, the knifemaker forms a suitable holster from kydex / holstex, whose colours (holster and accessories) match those of the blade and handle to make a consistent set.
Claw Knife Dimensions
The dimensions of Claw knife are very compact. Compact, i.e. handy, non-oversized (the total length is 185 mm | 7.28″), which, combined with the shape, allows for vigorous and quick use. The handle with the finger hole is a section of over 100 mm that will fit even larger hands. The blade, 70 mm (2.76″) long, is sufficient for everyday tasks such as cutting, pricking, planing and slitting.
About Presented Realization of Claw Karambit Knife
Durable Steel as the Core of the Knife Construction
Presented knife is made of one piece of Elmax steel. It is a knife with a full-tang construction, where the steel runs the entire length and width of the handle to which the covers have been attached. Full-tang construction is the most durable type of construction found in fixed-blade knives.
Elmax premium steel blade has excellent utility features: long-lasting sharpness, stainless steel and reliable durability (high resistance to abrasion, high resistance to mechanical damage).
Grind and Blade Shape for Effective Cutting
Knife blade comes with innovative groove grind. It is visible at first glance in the form of characteristic grooves on both the real blade and the false blade. The concavity of grind is very subtle and, in addition to the visual effect, it is designed to support the cutting process (it reduces the effect of the material sticking to the blade and facilitates splitting of the material).
There is a jimpig on the back of the blade, which makes it easier to press the blade against the material to be cut. This element makes precise cuts, makes it easier to guide the cutting edge over the material and helps with pressure-intensive cuts.
Ergonomic Knife Handle
The slim, shapely oval of the handle fits very well and lies securely in the hand, its gentle contouring helps to prevent the hand from slipping to the cutting edge. The rounded back protruding from each side of the handle makes holding the knife comfortable and secure.
The ergonomic, revised shape of the handle is made of G10 composite. G10 is resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, has a high resistance to mechanical damage. . In the presented knife the cover material has a rough pattern to prevent the handle from slipping in the hand. The handle covers have been screwed with steel screws. The screws complete the knife’s design, elegantly blending in with the blade.
At the end of the knife’s handle there is a finger hole, which is primarily used as a gripping element, but you can also use it to hang a safety rope through it, e.g. when carrying it.
Durable Kydex Holster and Various Mounting Options
The knife has a holster made of hand-formed Kydex material, which is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, characterized by low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals.
We attach the holster to the belt with the use of Kydex buckle. The initial mounting of the buckles allows the entire belt to be mounted vertically. However, it is possible to change the position of the buckles in a way that allows for more discreet horizontal installation (along the belt, on the back or at the front on the hip belt). Then just unscrew the buckles and change their arrangement. Strongly stable fastening (if we prefer it) can be obtained additionally by tying the holster through the through holes in it. Of course, you can use the paracord supply that the holster is wrapped in (its color corresponds to the section at the knife).
